Where’s The Weed At

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this directory and the basics of buying legally. For the full rules in your area, see our guides. Information only, not legal advice.

Using the directory

Do you sell or deliver cannabis?

No. Where’s The Weed At is a directory only. We don’t sell, deliver or take orders for cannabis. To buy, contact or visit the licensed store directly.

How do you know a store is licensed?

Every store comes from one of the 13 official provincial and territorial lists of legal cannabis retailers. Each store page names its source and the date we last checked it. See how we verify listings.

How often is the directory updated?

We refresh our copy of the official lists periodically. Each province page and store page shows the date its source was last checked. If you need to be certain about a store today, check the official list linked on that page.

Do you rank stores or publish reviews?

No. We don’t rank stores, publish reviews, ratings or testimonials, or recommend products. Stores are listed in a neutral order, and any paid placement is labelled “Sponsored”.

Do paid listings change the order?

Stores with a paid Premium listing are labelled “Premium · Sponsored” and are shown first on their city page. Up to three Sponsored spots per city are also clearly labelled. The “near me” list is always sorted by distance only. Paying never removes or hides other licensed stores.

Buying legally

What is the legal age to buy cannabis?

According to Health Canada, it’s 19 in most provinces and territories, 18 in Alberta and 21 in Quebec. See our guide to legal age and possession limits.

Do I need ID?

Expect to show valid government-issued photo ID. Legal stores check age, and a seller that doesn’t is a warning sign. See what ID you need.

How much cannabis can I carry in public?

Health Canada lists the public possession limit as 30 grams of dried cannabis or the equivalent in every province and territory. See legal age and possession limits.

Can I get cannabis delivered?

Only from a seller your province or territory authorizes, and the rules differ by region. We show a store as delivering only when the official list or the verified owner confirms it. See legal delivery and online ordering.

How do I report an unlicensed store or website?

Health Canada advises contacting your local police or the RCMP. Some provinces have their own channels. Our post on how to report an unlicensed or closed store lists the official ones.

Store owners

I own a licensed store. How do I claim my listing?

Find your store on the store owners page and request a claim. We verify you with a one-time code sent to the email on the official registry record or to an address at your website’s domain, or by manual review, which usually means a call to the store’s listed phone number. Claiming is free.

Is listing my store free?

Yes. Being listed, claiming, verifying and editing your listing are free. Optional paid features are described on how it works for store owners. They are always labelled “Sponsored”.

What can a verified owner change?

Hours, phone, description, delivery details and photos, from the owner dashboard. Premium listings can also publish a menu with prices. Store name, address and licence details come from the official registry.

Corrections and removal

A listing is wrong or the store has closed. What do I do?

Email hello@wherestheweedat.ca with the store page link. We check it against the official source and correct or remove the listing. If the official list itself is wrong, contact the regulator that publishes it.

Can a store owner remove their listing?

Yes. Verified owners can choose “Remove my listing” in the owner dashboard, and restore it later. Owners who can’t verify can email hello@wherestheweedat.ca from a business address.
