For licensed retailers
How it works for store owners
A plain explanation of how your store gets listed, how to claim it, what you can change, and the rules we follow.
What this directory is
Where’s The Weed At is an information directory of cannabis retail stores in Canada. Every store we list comes from an official provincial or territorial licensing registry. We do not sell, deliver or take orders for cannabis, and we are not affiliated with any government, regulator or retailer.
Your store’s name, address, licence details and website come from the registry. Unclaimed listings show only that registry information. Claiming lets you add and maintain the rest. See about this directory for how listings are built.
How claiming works
- 1
Find your store
Search for your store by name or street address on the store owners page. Listings are built from official registries, so your store is likely already there.
- 2
Request a claim
Open your store’s claim page and confirm that you are the licence holder or are authorized to manage the listing. You then choose how to verify.
- 3
Get a 6-digit code
We email a 6-digit code to either the email address on the official registry record (shown partly hidden), or any address at the domain of the website listed for your store. Social media, marketplace, free-hosting and webmail domains don’t qualify. The code expires after 30 minutes, and you get 5 tries to enter it.
- 4
Or ask for a manual review
If neither email option works for you, request a manual review. You give us your name, role and email address, and optionally a phone number and anything else that helps us confirm you. We review these by hand: we check the request against the licence record, which usually means a call to the store’s listed phone number. If we can confirm it, we email you a one-time sign-in code that opens your owner dashboard. If we can’t, we may let you know by email. We can’t promise a set turnaround time.
- 5
Edit your listing
Once verified, your listing shows an “Owner verified” badge and you can manage it from your owner dashboard (details below). You stay signed in on that device for 14 days; after that, verify again the same way. More than one manager can verify the same store.
If you get a code you didn’t ask for, you can ignore it. Nothing changes on the listing unless the code is entered.
Your free listing
Every licensed store is listed for free, whether or not it is claimed. Once you verify, you can also:
- show an “Owner verified” badge on your listing
- update your phone number and add a short, factual description (up to 1,200 characters)
- set opening hours for each day
- say whether you deliver, and list the postal areas, delivery fee and order minimum
- add up to 3 photos (JPG, PNG or WebP, under 4 MB each)
- add a menu of the products you carry, up to 500 items
- remove your listing, or restore it later
On city pages, owner-verified listings are currently shown before unverified ones, and each group is in alphabetical order. This is not a ranking or a recommendation.
Premium and Sponsored
Coming soonWe plan to offer optional paid features later. They are not available yet, and the details below describe how they are meant to work, not a final offer.
- Any paid placement is always labelled “Sponsored”. A paid label is not a review, ranking or recommendation.
- Paying never hides or removes unpaid stores. Every licensed store stays listed and reachable.
- Top spots on a page would be offered through a monthly bid, open only to claimed, licensed stores on Premium.
- Payment never changes licence or registry facts on a listing.
If you’d like to hear when this is available, email hello@wherestheweedat.ca.
Rules of the road
- Only the licensed operator, or someone the operator has authorized, may claim and manage a listing. We may remove claims we can’t confirm.
- We don’t accept payment, or anything else, to change licence or registry facts.
- Accuracy matters. Keep your hours, delivery details and menu current. To correct registry details or ask for a listing to be removed, use the dashboard or email hello@wherestheweedat.ca.
- This site is for adults of legal age only. See our age policy.
- You are responsible for what you add. Your description, photos and menu must follow the federal Cannabis Act and your province’s or territory’s advertising and promotion rules. As a general guide: no health or medical claims, nothing that could appeal to young people, no lifestyle imagery, no testimonials, and no giveaways, contests or inducements. We may remove content that doesn’t comply.

Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Being listed, claiming your listing, verifying and editing it are free. Paid options are not available yet.
Who can claim a listing?
Only the licensed operator of the store, or someone the operator has authorized to manage the listing. You confirm this when you start a claim, and we verify it through the registry email, your website’s domain, or a manual review.
Why didn’t I get my code?
Check your spam or junk folder first. The code only goes to the address you chose: the email on the registry record or an address at your website’s domain. Registry emails are sometimes out of date. Codes expire after 30 minutes, and a store can request up to 5 codes per hour. You can start again from the verify page, or request a manual review instead.
How do I fix wrong information?
Verified owners can update phone, hours, description, delivery details, photos and menu from the owner dashboard. Store name, address, licence details and website come from the official registry. If one of these is wrong on our site, email hello@wherestheweedat.ca and we’ll check it against the registry and correct our copy. If the registry itself is wrong, contact your provincial or territorial regulator.
How do I remove or correct a listing?
Verified owners can choose “Remove my listing” in the owner dashboard. The page comes down and drops out of our sitemap, and it can be restored from the dashboard later. If you can’t verify, email hello@wherestheweedat.ca from a business address and we’ll handle it by hand.
Do you sell my data?
No. We don’t sell the contact details you give us. We use your verification email to send your code and to contact you about your listing, and emails are delivered through an email service provider. Your email address is not shown on your public listing. Details are in our privacy policy.
